S/S'12 Trends: Spring Brights

It may be still cold outside, but you can let some summer accents into your wardrobe with energy-giving rainbow acid brights and highlighter neon shades - guaranteed to brighten up a dull day!

Wear on everything from classic tailored pieces for a chic look to casual grunge styles or get extra marks for wearing on sporty shapes. Pick your favourite colour and go for all out colour block, as seen on the Roksanda Ilincic SS12 catwalk, for a brave and bold look, or simply work bright separates and accessories to lift a dark or neutral outfit. Prints are key too, from animal to aztec, floral to baroque, geometric to tropical - spring prismatic brights give classic prints a bold revival.

Must have items include a bright-than-bright sports luxe tee and a pair of coloured denim trousers and/or shorts - wear together for maximum impact in either complimentary shades or go for a confident riot clash of colours. Spring is on the horizon, so take inspiration from the seas with the nautical trend for ship-shape looks!

Fashion trends may come and go, but nautical style is always a hit for the spring/summer season. Nautical fashion is a personal favourite - one that I can always fall back on each year. The nautical look is pretty much effortless - get yourself a Breton stripe top and you're half way there to creating a sailor style look! The nautical trend consists of timeless key pieces that can be easily mixed and matched; spring/summer wardrobe staples that can be worn year after year.

Make sailor stripes, polka dots, sailboats and anchors your print of choice; of course in the traditional nautical shades of navy, cream and red. Work key features such as sailor bib tops, port-hole style rivets, boat necklines, sailing-boat cords, fisherman style knits, canvas fabrics, rope accents and high-waist trousers with a sailor style matelot front for plain sailing style.

I'm always on the lookout for Navajo bags wherever and whenever I'm shopping - online,high street, vintage stores etc. A Navajo bag makes for the perfect accessory when working the Navajo trend and is a piece that will transcend the seasons, making it a great investment buy.

Key points to look for when shopping for your own must-have Navajo bag: tan leather, buckle details, tassles, tooled leather and of course bright Navajo style geo prints, in a pallette of sunset hues, turquoise and browns; displayed on blanket fabric or woven materials. Obviously I'd love to buy a an authentic Pendleton Navajo bag but my funds unfortunately don't allow... one day though :) I'm glad to see then that until that time, the high street have delivered some stylish alternatives to put me on!
